Bob Chivington, our club secretary, attended the Kent County League AGM in Sittingbourne yesterday, and we are proud to announce that he was awarded with the Division 1 East Secretary of the Year award for 2015/16. This came as a great surprise to Bob, who had this to say:
“Although it is very nice to pick up awards I feel what we do for the youth in our community is far more important, but nice anyway.
The following items relevant to Deal Community Sports were discussed at the meeting:
- DCSFC will remain in Division 1 this coming season along with the following ten teams: New Romney, East Kent College, Hollands & Blair Reserves, Hawkinge Town, Ide Hill, Sutton Athletic Reserves, DCSFC, APM Contrast Res (who will be operating under a new name – tbc), Kings Hill, Rolvenden, and South Darenth
- The season is starting earlier. For Division 1 teams Saturday August 27th will be the first game. It was explained that this is because we lose two Saturdays over Christmas (25th & New Years Day) and the fact that a number of games at the end of the current season were not completed. This is not the ideal scenario for Deal Community Sports, as our new pitch may not be available until September 10th because of the cricket season. We will be in talks with our new hosts to try and work around this
- There are fourteen new clubs; AEI Sports, AFC Bexley, Burgess Hodgson, Drummond Athletic, HF Sports Powerlister, Punjab Utd, Rochester City, Sydenham Sports, Tonbridge Invicta, Wateringbury, Welling Town, Rusthall Res, Larkfield & New Hythe Res, and Willesborough Res
- We have to submit fifteen players for registration by August 13th 2016
We look forward to the new season, and hope that our new ground will be ready for us in due time.
To conclude, the club would like to congratulate Bob Chivington on his award and wish him a prosperous future with us.
